Danceball is now in playable alpha
Hello everyone. I'm back to game development and my new project is called Danceball! It's a rhythm game you can control with your PC keyboard, a USB or Bluetooth game controller, or even a USB Dance pad. The game design is rather experimental and merges concepts from several of my other games. The color matching mechanic with the bouncing ball is borrowed from 2x0ng; check my profile for a link to that game. Probably the best explanation of Danceball is the video clip on the game page, where you can see me controlling the game with a USB dance pad from two different camera angles.
One of the most exciting things about Danceball is that I've been working on a partnership with an innovative music licensing company to bring lots of great music into the game in the coming months. I'll keep you all posted about that!
For now, I'm pleased to announce the playable alpha of Danceball itself, now available on Windows and Linux. The basic gameplay features are implemented and there are five demo songs, with more features and modes (and music) to come. I hope you enjoy the demo, and please feel free to use the forums if you would like to share questions or comments about the game.
Until next time, thanks for reading!
